Stuart Tankesley serves as the Assistant Band Director and Choir Director at James Clemens High School.  His duties at JCHS include team teaching marching band and symphonic band, choir, acapella choir, and jazz band. He holds a Master of Arts degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The University of Alabama.  

In addition, he also serves as an adjunct faculty member at The University of Alabama in Huntsville and as a music director for musical theatre productions throughout the community.  He is an alumni of Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps out of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and a former conductor of The Tuscaloosa Winds Community Band in Tuscaloosa.   Previously, he spent 4 years teaching at Discovery Middle School, where the Wind Ensemble and Choir consistently received superior ratings, including performing at the state music conference in 2008.  In Summer 2011, he served as a technician and instructor on a 3 week American music tour of China.

Outside his normal teaching responsibilities, Mr. Tankesley conducts summer music camps for middle school students in the Huntsville/Madison community.  Other than music, he enjoys jogging, watching Alabama football, Chicago Cubs Baseball, and theater.  Mr. Tankesley is currently a member of MENC, Alabama Bandmasters Association, and Alabama Vocal Association.
