The 2016-2017 school year will be my fourth year to facilitate learning in the English department at JCHS. I'm looking forward to another year of collaborative effort and success in the classroom! As much as I have enjoyed an awesome summer off with my family, I can't help but feel excited to meet new faces and reunite with older ones! I also look forward to returning to my soccer girls for my fourth season as "Coach Riddle"!
For those that stumbled across my bio and want to know more about me in general:
I live in Madison with my engineering-extraordinaire husband, Justin; awesome daughters Cady and Austen; and loyal (see also: lazy) canines, Tucker and Garth. We enjoy all things active and spend most of our free time in the great outdoors. Justin and I love to travel when we can and are on a quest to visit each of the 50 states together. Europe would be nice, too...
For those that stumbled across my bio and want to know more about my professional life:
I pursued my first degree and played women's soccer at the University of Southern Miss from 2004-2008. After finishing my undergraduate degree in English at Southern Miss in 2008, I moved to the Madison/Huntsville area to begin working toward my teaching certificate and Master's degree in English. During that time I transitioned from my K-1 position at Premier Preschool and worked outside the field of Education as the Marketing Director for Sodexo at UAHuntsville. By the time I finished my Master's work at UAHuntsville, I had acquired a new perspective on professional writing and the ever-evolving nature of written communication, both formal and casual. I try to keep this professional perspective in mind when designing units for my classes!
