Hello, Class of 2027!

The Senior Panoramic picture is scheduled for September 9th at 11:30 am in the competition gym. Ordering information will be provided that day as well. 

Graduation Information

  • Date - Monday, May 17th, 2027
  • Venue - Von Braun Center Arena
  • Time - 6:00 pm 
  • Doors open at 5:00 pm for guests. ALL guests must present a graduation ticket to attend the ceremony. Children aged 2 and under do not have to have a ticket, but must sit in the lap of a ticket holder (per VBC guidelines).
  • A list of "Prohibited Items" can be found here. Please familiarize yourself with this list of items and the policies listed on the VBC's web page BEFORE attending graduation. Parking is not free and is most often cashless.
  • The VBC has a new bag policy in place and will be enforced for all 2026 graduation ceremonies. Please see below:

  • Handicap Seating - JCHS CANNOT RESERVE SEATING OR PARKING!!!! Handicap seating is First Come, First Served. The doors will open for all JCHS guests at 5:00 pm. Neither sponsors can arrange special seating or parking.
  • There will be a MANDATORY PRACTICE for ALL Graduating Seniors at 10:30 am - VBC Arena (you do not need your cap & gown for this)
  • Each Senior will receive 10 tickets for his/her guests. The VBC only provides 10 tickets per senior. Families are welcome to try to reach out to other graduating senior families to see if they have any extra, but that is up to individual families to coordinate. The senior sponsors do not coordinate obtaining extra tickets for seniors. The ceremony will be streamed for anyone who is unable to attend in person. The link for streaming will be posted above on the Friday before the event. 

  • Tickets will be distributed in April. Please check back in mid-April for the finalized date.

  • No sneakers, boots, jeans, flip flops, or gum. 

  • Ladies

    • Dresses - Any color; do not have to be longer than your gown. Please ensure that your gown covers your dress neatly 

    • Pants/Pantsuit - Should be dark if worn. NO DENIM

    • Shoes - No sneakers - please make sure you can actually walk in the shoes you wear. (Practice, Practice, Practice)

  • Gentlemen 

    • Shirt-Button up and tie of some sort (regular, bow tie)

    • Slacks - Khakis, black slacks, brown slacks--NICE slacks; NO DENIM, please. 

    • Shoes - No sneakers

  • Only cords earned through a JCHS Honor Society will be allowed. 

  • Students may not wear personalized stoles. 

  • YOU MAY NOT DECORATE THE TOP OF YOUR CAP!!!!

Madison City Seal of Distinction Cords

  • To earn the MCS Seal of Distinction, students must meet ALL the following requirements:
    • Taken and passed 3 AP courses 
    • Taken and passed 2 Foreign Language classes in sequence
    • Taken and passed Algebra II with Trig.
  • Please see YOUR senior level counselor for more information.

Alabama State Seal of Biliteracy Award (Medal) 

  • Graduates will be notified via email when they have successfully completed the following requirements:  
    • Successful completion of all high school graduation requirements
    • Documentation of proficiency in one of the approved English language assessment options.
    • Demonstration of proficiency in one or more other languages via a benchmark score on an approved assessment
  • Students will receive their medal to be worn at commencement at an awards ceremony, JC Cafeteria. Please check your email for all details. 

4.0 White Tassels

  • Students graduating with a 4.0 or above GPA will receive a white tassel to wear at graduation
  • These will be distributed at graduation practice on the morning of May 18th. 

Graduation Gifts: If you would like to purchase gifts for your senior, please click HERE for more information. You may pre-order or you may also purchase at the ceremony on May 17th.

If you feel as though your name may be difficult to pronounce, or you simply want to ensure correct pronunciation, please complete the following FORM no later than May 1st. You must be logged in using your MCS credentials--the form will not open otherwise. You may also visit Mr. Clement. Senior Announcements & Events

Senior Trip Information

Hi Seniors!! We are going to Six Flags Over Georgia!! YAY!!

Details:

When: April 30th, 2027—we will load CHARTER BUSES at JC’s campus at 12:30 pm, leaving promptly at 1 pm. We will be at Six Flags from 6 pm to 2 am (EST). We will return to JC by 6 am on May 1st.

Transportation: CHARTER BUSES will be utilized to transport us to Atlanta. You MUST ride the bus to and from Six Flags.

Cost: $200 (this covers the cost of your ticket and the charter buses)

Due dates: initial payment of $100 is due no later than December 11th—you may pay by check or cash to the bookkeeping suite or use the school’s online payment system. Final payment of $100 is due no later than March 17th. You are also welcome to pay in full.

Permission Forms: A Parent Square notification was sent out on August 26th with permission forms attached. You will need to have both forms (permission and out of state) completed and notarized by March 1st, 2027. Please turn those in to Mrs. Horne (D 212).

Additional details: This is a completely PRIVATE event. Only seniors and chaperones are allowed to attend the event. There will be rollercoasters and thrill rides and FREE FOOD and a dance party and a DJ. And most importantly, you guys get to attend with your friends and enjoy life. I PROMISE it is worth it! (Ms. Mason and Mrs. Horne have had the BEST time!).

Graduation Supplies/Balfour

You are required to purchase your cap/gown from JDR Grad, as the gown/cap have both changed as of the 2023/24 school year. PLEASE click TO THEIR WEBSITE HERE to PAY and ORDER DIRECTLY from JDR Grad. You will need to have all supplies ordered no later than February 1st and paid no later than March 31st, 2027 to ensure delivery of cap/gown. PLEASE do NOT schedule graduation cap/gown pictures PRIOR to April 28th! We do NOT have extra cap/gowns for you to use for your pictures.

Graduation Cords:

Only cords earned through a JCHS Honor Society will be allowed. Information for ordering/obtaining cords should be directed through each specific organization. Please contact the sponsor of the organization in order to gain information about cords and pins. 

Cap and Gown Pickup:

Cap/gowns will be distributed on TBA in the auditorium. Seniors will be released via intercom at approximately 2 pm. If you are a December graduate or coming from co-op/Dual enrollment, please enter through the office. Please understand that you must pay your balance for your cap/gown in order to receive it. If you have not paid, please arrange to do so before we distribute. We will have a brief senior meeting prior to distribution. We will also distribute graduation tickets. Seniors will have to count and sign for the tickets. We will also offer an opportunity for your senior to meet with Mrs. Kaur and Mr. Clement in the event their name is difficult to pronounce. We want to ensure everyone is taken care of. Additionally, if a senior is absent on distribution day, then they will need to pick up their materials from the office on or after that date during REFUEL ONLY!!

Graduation Program

All seniors, including midyear grads, need to complete this FORM for the graduation program. Students may need to be logged in using MCS credentials. Changes are allowed until April 23, 2026. If you cannot access this form due to the December graduation, please email Mrs. Meskunas to let her know your plans. 

Senior Awards Night

Senior Awards Night will be held on TBA at 6 pm in the JCHS Auditorium. This program recognizes students who have received a merit-based or athletic scholarship from the college they will be attending.  Amounts are not announced.  If a student has been awarded a local scholarship and would like to be recognized, they must have the organization contact Mrs. Meskunas to be put in the program. Please complete this form no later than TBA. You must be logged in using MCS credentials.

Scholarship Offers

All seniors, including midyear completers, need to complete this FORM for ANY/ALL offers. Students may need to be logged in using MCS credentials. Changes are allowed until April 23, 2024. If you can no longer access your MCS credentials due to completing coursework in December, please email Mrs. Meskunas directly at llmeskunas@madisoncity.k12.al.us.

Senior Stroll

If you are interested in signing up for Senior Stroll, please complete this REGISTRATION FORM by April 20, 2026. This is an optional event and will be held on May 14th and 15th (varies by school). You will need to be logged into your MCS account to complete the registration form. We'd love for you all to attend!
