French National Honor Society
Thank you for your interest in the National French Honor Society!
The aim of this organization is to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements, to create enthusiasm for and an understanding of francophone culture, to promote and perpetuate international friendship, and to reward efforts toward furthering solidarity in the French-speaking world.
The French Honor Society provides weekly extra practice opportunities for students in French 1 and 2.
Students who meet eligibility requirements will be invited to join the French Honor Society in the 2nd 9 weeks of their French 2 class. Students who are completing French 2 online and believe they meet eligibility requirements should contact Ms. Greene no later than March 22 for instructions on how to apply. Induction ceremonies are held once a year, in late April.
Scholastic Eligibility Requirements to be met by all students:
a. Candidates must have maintained an A average in French during the semester of selection, as well as an averaged cumulative grade of A for all French work awarded secondary school credit.
b. Candidates must have maintained a B average or higher in all other subjects during the semester of selection, as well as an averaged cumulative grade of B in all other subjects for work awarded secondary school credit. French may not be used to calculate this average.
